In May 2015, I am earned my bachelor's in Digital Art and Animation, with an emphasis in 3D character animation, from Cogswell Polytechnical College in Sunnyvale, California.
While at Cogswell, I had the opportunity to work in Project X, a class in which students of all majors came together to create a short film in a setting designed to mimic a small studio. I was student lead for Animation, responsible for keeping the animation shot schedule on track and communicating between teams, as well as animating many shots myself. Because this Project X film focused around the adventure of a nanny goat, her kid, and a troll, I began the project by researching, studying the motion of goats, and executing practice animations to prepare for adding character into the realistic motion of a goat. I also tested the rigs, giving feedback to the riggers so that the rigs were ready for animating shots in a timely manner. Then I set up layout, readying cameras and posing characters to pre-visualize the shots. I then animated many shots, as well as continuing the regulatory and paperwork duties of animation lead. Overall, Project X was an intense and rewarding experience for me.
The short film, "Trouble Brewing," which runs nearly 7 minutes, was released in January, 2017. Above you can see the short film, and below you can see research and development animations designing the personality and realistic movement of the characters.
While at Cogswell, I participated in Project Avatarah, a project to create custom rigs for Cogswell College. I was a rig breaker, responsible for testing rigs to ensure that they were ready for animation and give clear feedback to riggers on various fixes needed. A preliminary knowledge of rigging as well as experience testing rigs for Project X allowed me to easily run the rigs through their paces and give helpful and clear feedback to the riggers. The feedback to the riggers may be slight fixes sent over an email, or an entire word document created describing the rig issues, the fixes needed, and showing examples of the problems.
Here you can view an animation I did on the Toothy rig that I was testing for Project Avatarah.
